Your 4.5-hour tour begins when you climb aboard a custom-made boat with a covered roof and make your way to two of the world’s best snorkeling destinations. Hug the rugged coastline along South Kona and listen as the captain relays stories explaining the rich cultural and geological history of the Big Island.
Your first stop is Kealakekua Bay, where you can take your time exploring the 315-acre marine sanctuary at the foot of the monument to Captain James Cook. When you need a rest from snorkeling, pick a spot in the shade of the canopy, where you can enjoy your complimentary lunch in view of the monument to Captain Cook, with the cliffs of the bay towering high above. Back on the boat, your captain will skillfully maneuver into sea caves, while you keep an eye out for marine life like dolphins, whales, and sea turtles.
Just south of Kealakekua Bay, you’ll find Honaunau Bay, a royal and protected area known as a “Place of Refuge”. Immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture here. As you snorkel through the clear waters, keep an eye out for green sea turtles, colorful fish, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and some of the best live coral you’ll see anywhere on the island.
