Your incredible day begins in Downtown Portland where you’ll meet your friendly naturalist guide before hopping aboard a comfortable, climate-controlled van. Enjoy stunning views of the city as you drive west on the picturesque Sunset Highway. Your first stop will take you to Ecola State Park, a stunning ocean paradise that inspired William Clark in 1805. Breathe in the lightly salted air as you stand at Ecola Point and admire views of the mighty Pacific, dramatic basalt islands, arches, and more. Afterward, you may venture into the forest in search of wildlife (look out for Sasquatch!), lush plants, and even more viewpoints.
Next, you’ll pay a visit to the coastal town of Cannon Beach. Stretch your legs as you wander the streets, step inside galleries, and pick up a souvenir or two. Then, visit the world-famous Haystack Rock and keep your eyes open for the rare and lovable Tufted Puffin. Depending on the tides, this is also one of the best places to explore magical tide pools! Spot purple sea urchins, green anemones, sea stars, crabs, and more.
Discover even more sweeping vistas as you explore Hug Point (tides permitting), Oswald West State Park, Tillamook Forest, and more. If time permits, you’ll even get the chance to visit Neahkahnie Mountain - one of the best spots in Oregon to spot migratory gray whales!
