The New River is one of the oldest rivers on the continent and it runs through roughly 70,000 acres of natural land. This vibrant landscape features deep canyons, rolling green hills, and a wide range of wildlife. This is your chance to ride the white water rapids of this historic river! You’ll first meet up at basecamp for a safety briefing and overview of the experience, before grabbing your paddle and donning your PFD (personal flotation device). After that, it’s a short, scenic trip to the launch site.
Before setting off, you’ll have the chance to practice your paddling skills. Then, it’s time to tackle the rapids. You’ll ride along with your expert guide, paddling through class I/II rapids that bubble over the river bed with leisurely ease. You’ll be able to bask in the awe-inspiring natural scenery around you, including vast rock formations, the remnants of an old coal mine, and spectacular wildlife such as birds of prey, water birds, and even bald eagles. This is a great way to introduce your kids to the marvels of nature, or to spice up your weekdays with some light-hearted adventure!
This 6-hour adventure includes a lunch, enjoyed along the river bank. Relax amid the sounds of wildlife, the wind in the trees, and the soothing tune of the river's movements. Enjoy a scrumptious meal meant to refuel you for the second half of the journey down the river. This is a perfect time to capture photos of the landscape or selfies in front of the river.
