Jennifer Oh did a great job taking us on a culinary journey around the Capitol Hill section of DC. She shared lots of history and really knew the area well. Her relationship with the restaurant owners and menus was invaluable. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed mixing and mingling with the other people on the tour. We are excited to try tours in other cities.

It was a beautiful location and we lucked out with weather so late in the fall. The tour part was brief, but interesting, and we ended up sampling 4 whites, 3 reds, 1 dessert white, 1 port, and a wine-infused chocolate (also in their gift shop) all on top of the little picnic basket they had prepped for us afterwards which included a choice among 4 cheeses (we did a 4 person tour so each couple got one block of a flavor of cheese which we shared), each basket had a summer-sausage in it, along with two sleeves of ritz crackers, two tabs of Dove dark chocolate, wine glasses and a picnic blanket--although we sat at one of the picnic benches; there is also corn-hole/beanbag toss games set up onsite. Wine you can purchase for your picnic separately either by the glass or bottle, and at the end of the tour we got a complementary wine glass to take home for each of us. Their shop also has really neat recycled parts of wine barrels, either for you to purchase to turn into your own crafts or pre-made into decor or furniture. Overall a really enjoyable way to spend an afternoon! There's a little nearby town (The Plains) with a farmers market, a couple antique shops, tea shops, etc., which was fun to do after the event.

My friend purchased me a specific experience but when I went to schedule it, I was told. That experience was not going to run for six months. I gave the customer service representative a date and asked what was available for that date, and he quickly provided me a list of alternative experiences available for that date. Food was great and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. But there was almost no interaction with the restaurant owners or staff. It would have been better if we knew more about the food and why they served us what they did.

Fist class all the way. Well organized, delicious food, outstanding service, live music, calm seas and a beautiful day. Only issue was parking nearby. The advertised limited parking by the venue was, in fact, a tow-away zone. Other nearby parking was under construction. Recommend web site be updated to reflect changes in parking as they occur. That being said, the ticket taker directed us to an underground parking garage about 3 blocks away. Overall a memorable experience.

We were originally signed up for the Capitol Hill food tour but it was cancelled due an emergency with the tour guide. We moved to the Old town Alexandria tour and enjoyed our time. Personally, I think the history and walking tour portion was better than the food selected.

The lunch cruise in DC was wonderful! Great service, excellent food, and awesome views. The tide was too high to go the usual route so we only saw half of the landmarks on the agenda, but it was still beautiful out on the water and we enjoyed a romantic day. Be prepared to pay $25 to park in the closest garage (as is typical with DC) if you’re driving.

My husband and I did the private education tour and had a wonderful time! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the venue was beautiful! We loved our picnic basket of crackers, cheese, sausage and chocolate!! We would definitely go back again.

The food was good and a nice variety. The history tour was satisfactory, but not great. I didn't come away learning a ton about Georgetown. I would be willing to try another tour. I have been on a lot of historical tours so I had a lot to compare it to.

Guide was great, but it should be noted that limited parking is available. Why not meet at a parking garage. Also ticket said 4 to 5 stops...we did three. Since most of these are probally gifts it should be noted that it's a walking tour.

I highly recommend this tour! And I'm a local to the Old Town Alexandria area, and this was such a fantastic and fun afternoon over the 4th of July weekend. The walking tour was just the right amount of walking and getting into FABULOUS restaurants! Landini Brothers was an amazing pasta dish, the combination of foods was super fun. The Fire House was historical significance too. Loved the mediterrean tapas experience. Through it all, our guide Mike was knowledgeable, personable, engaging and perfectly suited for this special role. Thank you for a great Experience!

The service and atmosphere was great. Our server was super friendly and bubbly; she even took pictures of my boyfriend and I when I asked. The food was perfect -- good flavor and not skimpy at all. The views were pretty and it was the ideal date spot!

Pablo was a fantastic guide for our food journey through Alexandria. He met us on time and started our tour with a little historical background of the town. Through out the tour he took us not only to some amazing restaurants but he also stopped along the routes to tells us more about the history of the area and pointed out some pretty neat features.

Very large group. Food was ok, but nothing special. The guide found it difficult to tell an exciting story. He had limited knowledge on food/ restaurant scene in Alexandria / DC. This tour was a great way to spend an afternoon with my sister, who was visiting from California. Adreanna was our tour guide on a cold, brisk Virginia day. Our group consisted of three retirees, one semi-retired person, and four American University undergraduates. Adreanna was able to relate to all of us. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and full of interesting bits of history and anecdotes about the city of Alexandria. The walking tour stopped at four restaurants, all new to me, and the dishes served were both filling and very good. There was no need for dinner that evening!

The tour guide for the Capitol Hill Food Tour was great! Joe was informative, friendly and thoughtful with the people on the tour. The food was very good. I especially liked the Belgium beet ravioli and the Greek food. The El Salvadorian food was also good, but could have been served hotter. We also had a minor problem in that a waiter at the Belgium restaurant kept the change (less than a dollar) from a bill for soda. The gratuity was included in the bill. That was presumptive on his part. Overall, I would definitely do this tour again with this company.

Great food with very large portions. Weather was great for walking. The walking experience was like one we had in Paris a few years ago. Washington, DC has many hidden gems for the locals / out of state visitors to explore. This experience is a great gift for any age group.

Our guide, Chris, was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable with any questions that were asked. The food was delicious at each stop and by the time the tour was over, we were stuffed. Will definitely be doing another booking with Cloud 9 Living!

I really liked the intimate feel of this tour and getting to know the people. The food was delicious and we learned a lot. The tour guide showed up right at the scheduled time, but since the instructions say to meet 15 min early, some of us were wondering if we were in the right place... it helps to at least have a sign or something.

This was a very creative and generous gift from some friends -- the gift of an experience! We had a delightful afternoon of learning some interesting facts of the area and tasting some delicious food! Great balance between walking and eating. Andrew was an excellent guide -- friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. One suggestion would be to have a little more info about the food for foodies. For example: ingredients, cooking methods used, region originates from, etc. Overall a wonderful experience! We will do it again and bring friends!

My husband and I did not know what to expect as we redeemed our gift certificate for a private wine education tour and tasting, but were pleasantly surprised! Even though we did not visit at the optimal time for winery tours (late November), our guide, Lindy, made it all worthwhile. So much so, in fact, that we plan to go back before we are transferred from this area of the country.

The tour guide for the Capitol Hill Food Tour was Chris. What a doll! Not only was he personable, but his knowledge of the history of DC was incredible. I grew up 10 miles from where we took our tour and didn't know any of the history that he imparted to us. He was friendly with everyone in the group and was great to my 82-year-old mother. I would love to take another of Chris' tours, and have already looked at the Cloud 9 Living website to find other tours to take.

We would suggest one thing. We had no dietary restrictions but felt that two dishes were TOO salty: the mushroom taco and the spinach crepe. All other food tasted great, especially the Korean restaurant, our favorite. Our guide was very friendly and lots of fun. The desserts were yummy but there was no reserved seating which was awkward.

The experience was fine and nice, but it was described as a gourmet experience with dress code recommendations. Instead it was a very crowded floating dining room, with adults and children alike, and all sorts of attire from casual to dressy. It needs to be portrayed that way in the description.

Our history and tasting tour of Old Town Alexandria was fantastic, and we would recommend the experience to anyone --- especially those who might question whether or not this type of adventure is right for them. It was an interesting, fun, and delicious afternoon in a beautiful city with something for everyone. Our tour guide, Gerson, was very knowledgeable about Alexandria and outlying areas. He provided a well-paced, seamless experience, interesting historical information with photos and handouts, and a few funny factoids only a local would know. We visited four tasty eateries, and we were so stuffed --- we were happy to have such a fantastic city to walk it off. Many thanks to Gerson who answered all our questions and gave us great ideas to try with the time we had left in the city. We look forward to future Cloud 9 Living experiences.

The private tour at the Philip Carter Winery was excellent. We were escorted through the vineyards by the wine maker himself and were provided with a very informative and interesting view of wine production in America, Virginia and at Philip Carter in particular. The private tasting that followed was one of the best that we have experienced. Our hostess for the tasting was very knowledgeable and entertaining! We loved everything about this experience.

My husband and I had a great time and learned some interesting facts about the area. Because it was off the beaten path, it was something that I don't think you would get from a bigger tour of DC. The pace was very relaxing -- you didn't feel rushed while at any of the restaurants. Now that we've been introduced to the area, we plan to go back on our own and enjoy it with friends and family.

Our guide, Eric Olinsky, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and good at herding a group of not-young people around Eastern Market on a hot day -- not easy given the small space and crowds. He did very well at relating to each of us individually, and smoothly switching from that to leading the group and giving us facts and history. We were given a lot of good food, though one of the group was vegetarian and many of our samples contained or were meat. The only thing we didn't get that I believed was going to be part of the tour was a half-smoke, though we did get some excellent roast beef. The cold water bottles distributed at the tour's beginning were appreciated. We two are 15-year residents of DC suburbs and learned a lot from the tour. It was given as a gift to us from one of our children, and it was a good combination of food (for my husband) and history and facts (for me).

Pablo (our tour guide) was very personable, well-spoken and knowledgeable about the Alexandria area. The chosen restaurants were top-notch and all the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the salmon with chorizo and succotash, ravioli, and choices of desserts. Pablo’s knowledge of the area was superb, and it was enlightening to hear about the history of residences and public areas. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to going on another one soon, as combining history of the area and great food is a delicious combination.

We enjoyed the tour very much. Eric was very personable and knowledgeable and willing to help beyond the tour topics, with information about DC. I would suggest a few things. Introducing the group to each other would be nice because it is such a small group and you send time eating together. We were worried about finding the guide. It wasn't very clear how to find him or her and the meeting place was on a busy street corner. I'm not real worried about germs but if you were, not having individual servings of food or even toothpicks for some of it would definitely be a turn-off.

Our tour was changed a day or two in advance from U Street to Dupont due to some scheduling concerns on the part of the U Street restaurants. Understandable, and the transition from one tour to another was easy for us. On the tour itself, Sam was great -- very personable and knowledgeable. Explained a lot of history that even DC'ers weren't familiar with. All the stops were fantastic and friendly (and delicious). I'm pregnant, and Sam was cognizant of the amount of walking we were doing and kindly explained to me how much more we could expect towards the end of the tour. Really great experience. I would consider trying it again with friends or out of town visitors.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Jennifer was friendly and very knowledgeable. She arrived late but I appreciated that she called everyone in the group to inform us of her delay. She was able to field most questions and bring her knowledge to bear on them. I thought the tour was very well structured -- punctuating visits to restaurants with walks around the area and historical information. For someone who is new to DC, it opened my eyes to this district. Informative and entertaining (and yummy!). Fantastic. Keep it up!

This was neither a good food tour, nor a good tour of an area. The information that the guide had about the area was pretty superficial, and she gave next to no information about the restaurants or the food. There was no excitement about the restaurants or food --- in fact they seemed like an afterthought. They were very badly-chosen and did not represent the quality of food and restaurants I know to exist in DC and around Capitol Hill. We walked up and down 8th Street, past some really exciting and cool places, and then went to the most generic and down-at-heel places for food tastings. It was very disappointing.

We were very disappointed in the Dupont Circle Food Tour. There were 6 of us that booked this tour, and the restaurants and information were quite disappointing. First we thought we would be taken to great restaurants that actually have some history or roots in Dupont Circle. What we got was 2 restaurants in hotels with very unsatisfactory food, and a Mediterranean store where we tasted olive oil and felt pressured to buy stuff. The only saving grace was the last Jewish deli that was really good and actually had Dupont Circle roots. When we were taken to these places, we were seated and given a small plate of food and that is it. The guide did not inform us of why this particular food or restaurant was chosen. In-between places we were given some history, but not much and you could barely hear him as it was loud, and most of the time he never faced us. If we are to purchase these tours I would expect a little more knowledge and restaurants that have some significant history in the city. We would not do this again nor recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed as the other 4 people we were with are friends that I asked to come on this tour. Thank you.

The overall experince was very good. However, we were not impressed with the last restaurant/bakery on the tour named Bittersweet. The quality of the desserts was not worthy of a food tour. Others in the group felt the same. Also, the advertisement for the tour stated that we would be visiting a few ethnic restaurants such as Greek, Lebanese,Thai, but most of our venues, although very good, were American fare. A little more variey would have been nice.

It was a lot more fun than we thought it would be. The guide gave a bit of history mixed in with the wine making process. The snack/lunch was MUCH better than the kayak trip lunch.
The tasting was personal - actually the overall experience was very personal and quite pleasant without any of the pretension that we've experienced at other wineries.

The location, the quality of the food, the knowledge and personality of the guide and the size of the group were perfect for the occasion.
Old Town Alexandria has a lot of history, the architecture is great and the ability to walk to every location in a reasonable matter of time and ease was definitely worth the trip.
Add the quality of the all the dining experiences, this was a great day! The planning of having the first meal a full meal, with the following 2 experiences light tastings and the last stop a dessert satisfier was well done. All the dining experiences were of top quality and the different settings and styles made each stop a new and fun adventure. And, the friendly/efficient vendor service was great! We'd recommend all the establishments to others. The settings were not rushed and Chris, our guide, provided great insights at each place as well as facilitating interesting conversation among the attendees.
Chris was the topping that brought the food tour together. Immense knowledge of the local history, characters and architecture mad the journey from each vendor to the next as enjoyable as the meals themselves. Plus, his sense of humor and his ability to generate conversation with each of the attendees plus encourage conversation among ourselves was more than we expected.

Ben was a very knowledgable tour guide at Philip Carter Winery. There was a very large group of people there for a tasting and we thought we were going to be with all of them. But then our private guide paged us and took us on a behind the scenes tour of the winery starting in the cellar, explaining the process of wine making and the concept behind all the different types of barrels sourced from around the world. Then, we got a tour of the vinyards, with a great horticultural lesson about the saplings and the grafting of two species together to make the vines look the way they do. We then proceeded inside for the tasting where we sampled many wines, including some that were not on the list (we felt VIP). After it was over, we had our free picnic lunch outside on the benches in front of the vines, along with Burt, the cat. All in all, it was an exceptional experience. They ran out of wine glasses to give us our two free glasses, but we are told they will be mailed free of charge to us later this week. Thumbs up from both my husband and myself.

This being my first experience with this site, I wasn't sure at all what to expect. That being said, I couldn't be happier having done it. Gourmet food, top notch jazz band, mimosas on the outside deck while taking in the sites, this cruise had it all. The staff were absolutely friendly and seemed genuinely interested in providing a good time for all. Perfect for family (I took my grandmother), couples, friends, maybe even strangers. If you're on the fence, just go for it. You won't be disappointed.

The food tour of Georgetown far exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide, Sandy, was awesome. We had a 2-year old child with us, and Sandy went out of his way to make sure that the restaurants had appropriate space for us, and arranged for high chairs etc where possible. He even offered to help my wife carry our stroller at one point, which was way above and beyond the call of duty. It was really great, and helped a lot, because we knew that this might not be the best activity for a two-year old child, but could not find a babysitter. Sandy was incredibly friendly, and professional, and did a great job of explaining the various sites around the neighborhood.
We live very close to the tour area, but had never been to two of the restaurants on our tour, and they both turned out to be great (Neyla and Paolo's), and we will definitely return. The third restaurant - J Paul's, was probably our least favorite in terms of food, because they really did not provide enough for the size of our party. The charcuterie and cheese board with olives and bread was only sufficient for a party half our size. There were a number of items on the board that we did not get to try because there simply was not enough to go around. The other restaurant that provided a family style service, Neyla, did a much better job of making sure that there was enough for everyone to try. As you can see from our rating, this did not detract from the overall experience, but at least from my perspective, if you are thinking about switching the restaurant rotation, J Paul's might be a good choice to switch up, at least based on our experience there.
Anyway, we can't say enough great things about Sandy, he was awesome, and really made everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

We ended up being switched from the captial hill food tour to the Georgetown Food tour due to an event going on downtown. We had a fantastic time! Andrew, our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Georgetown as well as the food and restaurants we were sampling. Our tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and the food choices were very good. An excellent tour for out-of-towners and a fun tour for a local to do something a bit different.

It was an overall great experience and the weather was on our side.
The brunch presentation and variety was very good with many hot and cold dishes to choose from.
The staff was efficient and friendly.
We enjoyed the band and took advantage by dancing to their repertoir of music.
The only thing that was not quite clear on the reservation was exactly which ship we were on. We went from the Odyssey to the Pride of Washington and back to the Odyssey where we were booked. Perhaps I missed something?

Our guide Christoper Pitt was knowledgeable about the food and was very informative about the culture. He was also very good at involving everyone in the conversations.

We really enjoyed the day. And would recommend this as a gift or just something to do to others. It was a fun day. We enjoyed the others on the tour with us and our guide Dina was just delightful.

Lynn, our guide, was fun, informative and added a lot to the experience. The food was great at the Landini Restsurant and Columbia Firehouse. The Pita House, however, had potential, but the food seemed as if they plated it early and it sat under a hot lamp for a bit. It didn't compare to the other venues.

Our guide, Briana was excellent. Great personality and full of delightfully presented info, both about the architecture and history as well as the food.
Having been on 2 NYC Food Tours, I expected several stops with tastings, and one sit down. I enjoyed all the stops but would have liked only one sit down and more tastings.

The experience started a little rough with our reservation not being in the system. However, the person who greeted us took care of the situation and just added us to an already scheduled tour. The tour itself was informative and entertaining. The wine tasting itself was great, with a lot of very good red and white wines.

Our tour guide was wonderful! She was kind, friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We had a great time.
The only issue I had was the many steps needed to confirm the date and time. I didn't like that I had to call in order to find out if there were openings for the time and date I wanted. It worked out, but it took more work than most booking companies require.
